When we get to a new city, we like to take our bus out to explore the town and give away free Tillamook Ice Cream samples while we’re at it. First we gas up, make a list of cool places to go, and then hit the road for a drive day.

Our first stop was Rice Stadium at University of Utah where some of the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics took place.

We went by the state Capitol building where a family of 4 pulled a u-turn when they read that the bus said “Tillamook Ice Cream”. They were so excited to learn that their favorite cheese company also made ice cream!

Driving around downtown, the bus got friendly honks and waves. It seemed like a good time to stop and give away some Tillamook Ice Cream samples. We found a parking spot, popped the top of the bus up, and transformed into an ice cream stand. Oregon Strawberry and Old-Fashioned Vanilla were the ice cream flavors of the day, but we also brought some NEW Salted Caramel Tillabars (aka ice cream bars)!

Next stop we took the bus to the mall next to Temple Square.

It was a warm, beautiful day, and as soon as the bus parked at Sugar House Park and opened up, people came running from all around the park, lining up for a tasty Tillamook treat.

It was time to start heading back toward home-base after a day full of sight seeing and sampling. On the way we saw a little girl and her mom waving to us from their front yard. It was little Brooklyn’s 7th birthday and she loves Tillamook Cheese and Tillamook Ice Cream.

We thought we were really done for the day until we saw 3 kids running after us, thinking the bus was a traditional ice cream truck. The look on their faces was priceless when they found out they could have a sample for free! Even their older sister and mom came over for a sample. It’s hard to pass up Tillamook Ice Cream, especially when the ice cream bus stops in your driveway!

We got to see some of Salt Lake City’s famous landmarks and we gave out over 600 ice cream samples during the day. Check out #TillamookTour on Twitter and Instagram for more pictures from drive day and other Tillamook events. You can also see where we’ll be next on our Tour Schedule. We hope to see you at our next store event or drive day!
